What is the Blue Hills Fibre Festival?
Founded in 2013, the Blue Hills Fibre Festival is an annual event designed to bring local yarn-o-holics together with local yarn producers from Manitoba and across the Prairies. We spread the love of fibre arts through yarn and fleece vendors, as well as workshops. The Festival aims to help foster connections between rural and urban wool people, enhancing this already vibrant community in Manitoba.
Who are we?
Our little group of organizers is based in southwestern Manitoba.
Allison Krause Danielsen (Brandon, MB): Biologist by day, knitter, spinner and total fibre geek by night. I handle the emails, website and workshops for the festival.
Susan Sydor (Shilo, MB): Passionate about all luxurious woolly things. Owner of Wildwind Naturals, I love to weave on my tri-loom, dye wool, spin lusciously soft yarn, and share my love of fibre arts with everyone I meet. I am the craft sale veteran, vendor organizer extraordinaire!
Gail Kasprick (Neepawa, MB): Rural, homespun gal with a flock of sheep to call my very own. I organize the fleece show and sale, and I keep on top of the money matters.
